The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is the federal agency responsible for border security, immigration enforcement, and customs services. CBSA officers work at land border crossings, airports, seaports, and mail processing centres, controlling who and what enters Canada. They screen travellers for admissibility, collect duties and taxes on imported goods, intercept contraband, and enforce immigration law including detaining and removing people who violate immigration rules. While CBSA is a federal agency, its operations significantly impact border communities that experience traffic, economic activity, and service demands related to crossing points.
