Terms of Service

Last updated: August 1, 2025

Welcome to CanuckDUCK. By accessing or using any part of the CanuckDUCK platform — including Core, Pond, Consensus, Ducklings, Flightplan, or any related subdomain — you agree to the following terms:

1. Purpose of the Platform

CanuckDUCK is a Canadian civic engagement and issue resolution platform. It exists to:

  • Help communities identify and solve problems
  • Support respectful discussion and informed participation
  • Provide tools for collaborative projects, surveys, voting, and local initiatives

It is not a traditional social network. It is a purpose-built environment focused on civic value.

2. User Accounts

  • You may use the platform pseudonymously, but must act in good faith.
  • Certain roles (e.g., voting, moderation, leadership) may require real-world identity verification.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
  • We reserve the right to restrict or suspend accounts that undermine platform integrity.

3. User Conduct

By using CanuckDUCK, you agree not to:

  • Post personal information (yours or others’) without consent
  • Engage in harassment, threats, impersonation, or manipulation
  • Submit content that violates Canadian law, defames others, or promotes hate
  • Attempt to game voting, surveys, or moderation systems
  • Upload malicious code, spam, or unsupported automated tools

We reserve the right to moderate content in alignment with community standards, fairness, and platform integrity.

4. Content and Licensing

  • You retain ownership of content you create (e.g., forum posts, project ideas)
  • By submitting content, you grant CanuckDUCK a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and adapt it for platform purposes
  • Public discussions may be indexed internally and shown in context (e.g., topic summaries, engagement dashboards)

5. Data and Privacy

  • We collect minimal personal information. See our Privacy Policy.
  • Most participation is anonymous or pseudonymous.
  • We do not sell your data.
  • You may request deletion of your account or data at any time, subject to civic retention policies (e.g., project history, moderation logs).

6. Paid Services and Subscriptions

  • Certain features or dashboards may be available to paid subscribers (e.g., municipalities, nonprofits, analysts).
  • These features are provided as-is, and pricing may evolve over time.
  • Subscriptions may be suspended for misuse or breach of agreement.

7. Community Moderation

CanuckDUCK includes tools for flagging, escalating, and reviewing content or behavior.

  • Some moderation is AI-assisted (e.g., PII detection, hate speech triggers)
  • Flagged content may be temporarily hidden pending manual review
  • Moderation logs are maintained and may be audited

We strive for fairness, transparency, and restraint in all moderation actions.

8. Availability and Reliability

  • We aim for high uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
  • Maintenance, outages, or network disruptions may occur.
  • We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate any part of the platform as needed.

9. Disclaimers

  • CanuckDUCK provides tools and spaces for community engagement. We do not guarantee outcomes or accuracy of user-submitted content.
  • Any advice, opinions, or claims shared by users are their own and not endorsed by CanuckDUCK.
  • Use of the platform is at your own risk.

10. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or compromise platform integrity.
  • Content posted to public areas may remain visible after account termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced, and continued use implies acceptance.
